Lake Time With Great Friends!

Each year, we rent a house with some of our awesome friends.  In the past, we have gone to Bear Lake for Raspberry Days but, this year, we decided to venture elsewhere and rent a house in Altamont, Utah. I'll let the photos do the talking...

I mean...

We had our own private lake.

The kids loved the "pool."  We had the water turned down a bit so it wasn't quite so warm.

The kids pretty much lived in their swimming suits.

bath time!

We had a horseshoe pit.

We bought an inflatable paddle board and it was SO much fun!

Abigail loved swimming in the lake.

We had a lot of fun in the lake!

gorgeous sunsets

There was this great little "island" in the middle of the lake.

I am so proud of this girl.  She LOVED paddle boarding!

She even took her dad for a ride.

The kids had a blast!

Home Remodeling Update #3

The basement is coming along...

These walls have been painted.  We are going to hang the TV on the left wall.

I wanted to get this area painted so we could pull out the girls' art table.

Right now, the TV is sitting on the wood stove.  We need to move it to the wall so we can start getting those rocks off the fireplace.

Glorious Days of Summer!

Sometimes we get asked, and I'm sure some of you are thinking, "What do they do all summer?  It must be so nice to have the summer off."  First of all, yes, we are extremely fortunate for our summer break.  We look at it as a way to recharge for the upcoming school year and, after back-to-back Master's degrees, it is needed more than ever this summer.

This summer, we have been focusing on family time.  This is the first summer for Abigail to have both of us home and not watching one of us rush off to class or to meet with a group to complete a project.  Aside from our hikes, camping trips and time together at home, we have also been spending time together on the soccer field, at summer camps, at swimming pools, on the tennis court, and at the many parks around the area.  We are so lucky to have this time together.

I was feeling the need to craft so I had a Pinterest party one evening.

The girls continue to take swim lessons.  We ended up putting Abigail in private lessons because group lessons were just not for her.  It was a wise choice because at her latest lesson she was doing amazing!

We got a new computer desk and put our old computer desk in Emma's room.  That meant Abby got the hand-me-down desk from Emma.  She LOVES it!

Hiking attire is not a battle I am willing to take on with Abby.

These warm summer days has meant perfect weather for eating dinner out on the deck.  This is our view from the patio table.

going on a hike near the Utah Olympic Park

July 24th is a big day here in Utah.  It's the state holiday to celebrate the day (back in 1847) Brigham Young, and other Mormon pioneers, stopped in Salt Lake City and said, "This is the place."  Even though we are not Mormon, we still like to get together and BBQ and shoot off a few fireworks.  This year, we went to Ben's house.  The girls love wearing Ben's girlfriend's high heels.

We're off to go camping with the Ostroskis!

Again, camping attire...not a battle I am willing to invest my energy into.

home sweet home for 2 nights

Who would have thought that pulling a wagon or dump truck behind bikes would be so exciting?

Jen's parents came along, too, and the girls loved helping them with the dishes.

We put raspberries in our s'mores....yummy!

Larry brought his motorcycle and that was the hit of the trip.

All of the kids played so well!

We had a few short bursts of rain every so often.

Andy and I went to see Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn at Deer Valley Thursday evening.  We saw Bela up in Anchorage when he was touring with the Flecktones.

Even though Emma hasn't complained about her eyes, I wanted to get her in for a thorough check-up before school starts.  She has eagle eyes.

We take full advantage of any time Emma says she wants to play tennis.  She is doing so great!

Abby went around on her balance bike and retrieved the balls for us.

Then we went to the park where Emma finally got the hang of pumping on the swing.

Only a few short weeks left until we go back to work...
