April 2023

We finally started to "see the light at the end of the tunnel" and winter finally coming to an end.

April 5th:  My mom gave the girls all of these notes with positive sayings on them.  Abby decided to put them up all over her room.  Love it!

This is the view from our basement right now.  There is usually a small drop-off behind the deck railing.

April 7th:  Andy and the girls brought some color to our street.

April 8th:  Only 3 weeks left in the ski season and the snow is still up to the signs.

Today was also the pond skimming.  People dress up in crazy costumes and try to ski or snowboard across a small pond.

April 9th:  Happy Easter!  Even though the girls are getting older, we still do an egg hunt and Easter basket every year.

April 12th:  We do our best to keep our 2nd set of stairs clear during the winter.  I think we made it to February and just couldn't keep up.  With the warmer weather, it was time to start clearing the stairs.  It was a process--about 2-3 steps/day.  Andy would take chunks from the stairs, lay them out on the deck, and I would push them off.

Just wanted to make sure we don't forget Patches and Ruth.  Could they get any cuter?

April 15th:  Andy, Emma, and Kim took a drive up to Brighton to check on the cabin.  It's still standing!

April 19th:  Abigail got her braces off!!  What a beautiful smile!

April 22nd:  The Swaner Nature Preserve had a cool mini golf exhibit so the girls and I decided to check it out.

April 23rd:  This was our last day of skiing for the season.  We took over a few spots in the parking lot and had a BBQ to conclude our amazing ski season. (It was also Uncle Jim's birthday.)

April 24th:  It's not every day you get to meet an Olympic gold medalist (and wear a gold medal)!

April 26th:  Our school had an Art and Science Night.  It was so much fun!  Abigail walked around and did science experiments while Emma put in a couple hours of volunteer time.

April 29th:  Emma and I volunteered at the bike swap, put on by the high school mountain bike team.

Right after, we crossed the street and watched Abigail play soccer.  The long winter limited the number of games they played, but she still had a blast.

It's nice to know they don't argue all of the time.  They really do love each other.

April 30th:  With the mountain biking trails still covered in snow (or muddy), we ventured down to Antelope Island for our first family bike ride of the season.
