July 2026

It's hard to believe we are over halfway through 2026.  The summer fun continued throughout July.  A couple of days after returning home from visiting family in Boston, they flew to Utah to celebrate the 4th of July at our cabin in Brighton.

July 1st: Neena took the girls to Park City Mountain Resort to ride the alpine slide and alpine coaster.

July 2nd:  Today we headed over to Brighton.  This year, Uncle Jim and his family stayed at the cabin so we rented the house across the parking lot for 3 nights.  It was perfect for our crew of 9.  It had a pool table, skee ball, and plenty of space for all of us.  We were spoiled with a TV so we could watch the World Cup.

July 3rd:  It was a great day for a hike!  We hiked up to Silver Lake, up to Twin Lakes, and then over the Lake Mary--about 4 1/2 miles.

Cousins!

July 4th:  It wouldn't be the 4th of July in Brighton without the Brighton parade.

We ended the night with a family game of Hitster.

July 5th:  Andy, Emma, and Kim had a booth at the Brighton Flea Market, selling stained glass and painted palm fronds.

July 8th:  We had a major wind storm hit--enough to knock over a dead tree and block our road.

July 11th:  Today we did the Spartan Sprint (5K) as a family up at Snowbasin Resort!  It was super fun, exhausting, hard, so hot, and rewarding all at the same time.

July 17th:  We camped at Wasatch State Park for the weekend.  We didn't have many options to get out this summer so we made the best out of the one weekend we did have.  We biked, played games, relaxed, and spent an hour at the Crater.  The Crater is a 10,000 year old geothermal hot spring that is inside a limestone dome.  The mineral-rich water is 90-96 degrees F.

July 19th:  Happy Birthday, Neena! After getting home from camping, we spent the evening with Neena at an outdoor concert.

July 24th:  It was a beautiful night for another outdoor concert.

July 25th: After a bike ride at Soldier Hollow, we spent the day up at the cabin.

July 26th:  Andy and I did a hike we hadn't done in about 15 years--Sweeney's Switchbacks.

This is what happens when the girls get a hold of my phone.

July 29th:  The hummingbirds have been loving our 2 feeders this summer.

Emma decided to build a birdhouse!

July 30th-August 1st:  Abby's soccer team played in the Extreme Cup right here in Park City.  It was a very hot 3 days but the girls did awesome.  They made it to the finals but lost 2-1 in extra time.  These were the first games they played together as a team and they did so well.

Abby had a great cheering crowd watching each game.
