When June comes around, you know the end of the school year is right around the corner. It also means all of the summer activities (mountain biking, soccer, trips) will be filling up our calendar.
June 1st: Abby decided to join the mountain biking team! (She will also continue to play club soccer.)
June 4th: We love our visitors!
June 6th: Emma and I did a 5K! It was her first running race.
June 9th: Emma and my sister made bagels. Delicious!
June 10th: We went go-karting! It has been something Emma has been wanting to do. (Abby was at a soccer camp at the University of Utah.)
June 12th: We got a storage unit for the Escapod to make room for a car for Emma. My sister gifted us her Honda CRV.
June 13th: Emma made my sister a stained glass, as a "thank you."
June 14th: Emma drove Guardsman's Pass (which takes you to the cabin) for the first time.
June 18th: Today we flew into Boston to visit Andy's sister and her family and explore some of the beautiful northeast. We spent the night at Andy's sister's house and then drove up the their cabin in Maine for the weekend.
June 21st: Then it was off to Acadia National Bar/Bar Harbor. We stayed in an amazing AirBnB. We were welcomed with fresh eggs from the chickens in the backyard and yummy blueberry muffins. The owner is a lobster fisherman so we were also given 3 lobsters. We bought 3 more lobsters from them for only $9 each!
June 22nd: Today we rented bikes and rode the carriage roads in Acadia National Park. Then we explored Bar Harbor. That night, we had our lobster feast!
June 23rd: Well, we had purchased a reservation to watch the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain but, unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and we could barely see 5 feet in front of us. We tried.
After a quick nap to help replenish our sleep after our 3:00 a.m. wake up call, we ventured back to Acadia National Park and drove the Park Loop Road, exploring along the way.
Our first stop was Sand Beach. It was pretty foggy when we started, but the weather got better throughout the day.
June 24th: Today we drove back to Andy's sister's house in Peabody, MA. To break up the drive, we stopped at Freeport, MA to see the LL Bean flagship store.
That evening, we went to a fun place called Alfalfa. It is a brewery where you can bring in your own food and there is a huge field for the kids.
June 26th: Today was a busy day! We drove to Boston, parked our cars at the Boston Common Garage and then walked to the Barking Crab for lunch. After lunch, it was off to the Boston Tea Party Museum. We listened to the history of the Boston Tea Party, got to throw "tea" off the ship, and tasted some of the varieties of tea from the Boston Tea Party.
After that, we got on the subway and headed to Fenway Park for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game.
June 29th: Ugh. We awoke to snow today! It melted in a couple of hours but still...
