August 2024

August is a bittersweet month.  I love it because the weather starts to turn more fall-like but then...that also means we have to prepare ourselves to go back to school.  Fall sports are in full swing, which means we are in our cars more than we are at home.  I wouldn't want it any other way, though.  The girls are happy and they have both found something they really enjoy.

August 1st:  We went to the zoo and only paid $8.01 for each admission ticket.  We don't get to the zoo a lot so it's always fun to see what the animals are up to.

That afternoon, Andy went fly fishing with his buddy, Ross.

August 2nd:  We took advantage of our amazing (and free) bus system in Park City and attended local's night at the Kimball Arts Festival.

August 5th:  Today was an exciting day!  Off with the old and on with the new!

And this never gets old.  Luckily, the workers were gone when they came for a visit.

August 6th-8th:  It's time for another soccer tournament!  These girls played their hearts out in 100-degree temperatures and still had smiles on their faces.

August 10th: Andy and I played in the Sigma Nu 100th Anniversary golf tournament with his dad and Terry.

August 14th:  It's our annual "The Girls Spend Time with Aunt Tina While Mom and Dad Go Back to Work" time!  Today, they spent a few hours at the UOP (Utah Olympic Park).

August 18th:  We snuck in a hike in Round Valley.

That night, the girls made us a delicious dinner!

August 19th:  It's nail time!

August 20th:  Happy 1st Day of School to our 9th grader and 6th grader.  This is the first year (in a long time) that we don't have one of our kiddos at school with us.

August 21st:  This is what I saw when I got from school one day--both girls doing their homework!

August 24th:  It was breakfast with Aunt Tina and then a soccer game later that afternoon.

August 25th:  We put in a couple hours of work at the cabin.

August 29th: Andy and Abby went to the 1st University of Utah football game of the season.  They played Southern Utah and won by quite a bit.

August 30th-September 1st:  Since Emma's first bike race (at Soldier Hollow) got canceled because of lightning and storms, this was her first race of the season--in Manti, Utah.  We took advantage of the weekend and got in a little camping.

August 31st: It's pancakes with peanut butter and a little maple syrup for breakfast.

Emma had a rough start for this race.  Right after the Start line, another rider collided with her and they both fell.  This put her as the very last rider, right from the start.  She was tough and didn't give up.

This girl rocked it and ended up passing 14 people throughout her 10-mile race.

What a great group of girls!!

The team ended up taking 1st place in Division 1.

September 1st:  We had a little visitor as we were packing up our camp.
