July 2024

July 2nd - 5th: Our July started out by heading to the cabin for the 4th of July.  This year we decided to park our trailer in the back and pretend like we were camping.

cabin time = hiking time

Even though this is Twin Lakes, this is the first time we have seen it as 2 lakes.  It's usually 1 big lake.

cabin time = work time

Happy 4th of July!

cabin time = reading time

cabin time = crafting time

cabin time = pickle ball time

July 8th:  Abigail has continued with her swimming lessons this summer.  She is becoming quite the swimmer.

July 12th:  We met some friends at a local Friday night concert.  Abigail and Francie have known each other since they were in diapers but, a couple of years ago, Francie moved to Arizona.  It was so great to see them again!

July 13th:  And we're off to Lake Powell!  (Well, tonight we stayed in Kanab.).

It was so hot but we decided to brave the heat and go off on a couple of adventures.  The first stop was the Belly of the Dragon.

Then we stopped at Wind Cave.

We finished the evening off with a swim and dinner at a delicious restaurant in Kanab.

July 14th: Now we are on our way to Lake Powell.  On the way, we stopped and did a quick hike to ___________________.

After a quick stop in Page, Arizona, we were off to the marina.

We stayed on the boat that first night so we could get an early start in the morning.  Little did we know that the other boat (with 2 other families) would have engine troubles and we wouldn't leave the marina until early afternoon.  It took a couple of hours until we found the perfect spot to anchor for the next 4 nights.  We also rented 2 power boats so we were able to take those out during the day to swim, explore, wake board, water ski, and tube.

Anchoring a houseboat is hard work.

There was no shortage of paddle boards and floating tubes.

Emma got up on water skis for a bit.

One day, we took the power boats out and explored for a few hours.

It was so hot we had to jump in the water to cool off every so often.

Abby loved wake boarding!

July 19th: Today we headed back to the marina.  After another stay in Kanab, we made it home on the 20th.

One last swim...

July 21st: First, we did a bike ride through Round Valley. After that, we had a soccer social to get to know Abigail's new soccer team.

July 25th: It's the Extreme Cup soccer tournament!  For so many years, we were just residents dealing with the crazy amount of traffic this tournament brought to our town.  This year, we were a part of the action.  Abigail and team won their first game!

As parents of kids in the soccer club, you have to put in 15 hours of volunteer time.  Andy and I did all of our hours during the Extreme Cup--delivering supplies to the venues the night before the tournament started, shuttling people back and forth to the parking lot, picking up trash around the fields, and working a concession stand.

They lost their next 2 games so their team was done after 3 games.

July 31st: Our whole family went to the Michael Franti and Spearhead concert at Deer Valley.  It was such a great concert.
