September 2023

To say that our Fall is busy is an understatement.  Between bike races, soccer games, spending time at the cabin, and enjoying the beautiful fall weather, there is not much down time.

September 3rd:  The girls and I spent a few hours at the cabin.  There is always work to do.  Today it was repainting the benches.

September 8th:  Abigail was chosen to share a writing about her time at McPolin Elementary and how excited she was for her 5th grade year.  This was at our annual flag ceremony, in front of the entire school, parents, and many city police and firemen/firewomen.

September 9th:  Today was Emma's 2nd bike race.  It was held at Snowbasin Resort.

Emma took quite a tumble during this race and ended up in the 1st aid tent.

This is one result of her fall...

September 10th:  Emma doing what she loves--baking.  This time she made a birthday cake for a teacher at our school.

September 16th:  Today was the ladies frisbee golf tournament in Brighton.  It was a gorgeous day!

We started off the day with a hike up to Twin Lakes and then over to Lake Mary before heading back to the cabin.

After lunch we started the frisbee golf tournament.  What a fun group of ladies!

This year, I tied for 2nd with Whitney.

September 17th:  Andy and I played golf with Tom and Terry for Tom's birthday.

September 19th:  There's nothing like riding the Peloton and seeing a reflection behind you... It never gets old.

September 22nd-23rd:  This was Emma's last race.  It was held in Mantua, Utah.  We stayed in Brigham City Friday night since she has to be at the race site bright and early.

The night before, we met a few friends from the bike team for dinner.

It was a chilly, chilly morning.  Brrr...  Also, there was so much rain that fell on the race course the day before.  It was a bit of a miracle the race went on!

It's hard to tell in the photo, but everybody's shoes were caked in mud.

Emma's group was still bundled up as they went on their warm-up ride.

People were going around scraping the mud off the bottom of riders' shoes.

And they're off...

congratulating other riders...

Ella, Hazel, and Emma

While Emma and I stayed to cheer on more racers, Andy and Abby drove back to Salt Lake for the Utes football game.

September 25th:  Due to Yom Kippur, we didn't have school today.  We took full advantage of the gorgeous fall weather and rode the Mid-Mountain Trail.

September 28th:  Busy day--Abigail's soccer game and then Emma's end-of-the-year bike team banquet.

September 29th-October 1st:  We ventured down to the Wedge for a weekend of camping and biking with friends.

People call the Wedge the "Little Grand Canyon."
