The Latest Happenings in the Tullis Household

Bear with me...this blog post is going to be all over the place.

We are adjusting to life with two little ones (and remember Cooper?  Yep, he's still here.  That should be a blog post all of its own.).  Life is good!  Exhausted?  Yes.  Challenging at times?  Yes.  Rewarding?  Yes!!  A family full of love and laughter?  Yes.  We couldn't ask for anything more.  Abigail has brought such joy to our family these past 2 weeks.  She is precious (and such a good baby).  Emma loves being a big sister.  There have been a few times when I have had to pick her up or drop her off at school (with Abigail, of course) and she couldn't be more proud of her little sister.

Enjoy the photos!

Nana Kim flew into town at the beginning of May to watch Emma while we were at the hospital (assuming the baby was born on or around my due date of May 3).  Well...Kim had to go back to work on May 8th and baby was not ready yet.  I started having contractions on my way home from dropping her off at the airport and Abigail was born the next morning.  So...Nana Kim has not yet met little Abigail but her and Emma had some quality bonding time.  One morning, we did a little art project (thank you, Pinterest).

Abigail gave Emma a "big sister" present--binoculars.  Now her and Andy can bird watch on the deck together.

Abigail does a lot of this...

My Mother's Day gifts:  new shoes, my favorite kind of beer, a beautiful card from Emma, and a scrumptious breakfast

Emma loves her new sand table!

It's crazy to think that Emma was once that small.

We do a lot of this...watching, looking, oohing, and ahhing

Emma has, pretty much, mastered diaper changing with her doll.

Emma and I had a mommy/daughter breakfast date one morning before I took her to school.  Mmm...blueberry bagel and chocolate milk.

Yesterday, we went down to Papa and Grandma's house for a birthday BBQ for Andy.  The pool had opened on Friday so Andy and Emma enjoyed their first swim of the season.

She loves the water!

While Andy and Emma enjoyed the water, I took in the vitamin D and Abigail took a little snooze.

We are excited to share our many more adventures with you (as a family of 4)!  Summer is (pretty much) here.  Andy has 9 days of school left and then it's time to play, play, play.  I have been going in to school once a week for the past couple of weeks.  Our school is going full dual immersion (Spanish) and, because of the expanding classes, a lot of teachers are having to move classrooms (including Andy and me).  I have been slowly packing boxes and also going in for meetings regarding next year's 2nd grade classes.  Right now, it looks like I will be teaching a 2/3 combo. class.  This will be a challenge, but I am excited to do something a little different next year.  I've been teaching 2nd grade for 5 years and a change every so often is nice.

I will be starting my 3rd week of my summer session for grad. school.  This semester I am taking Mulitmedia and Web Tools.  We are doing a lot of work in photoshop for Multimedia and Web Tools is all about coding HTML.  So far, so good.  It's nice to have more tech-focused classes during the summer.

Introducing Abigail Preston Tullis

The newest member of our family came into the world on Thursday, May 9, 2013.  On Wednesday afternoon, I started having contractions.  They became closer together and more intense.  When they were about 8 minutes apart I told Andy I thought it was time to go.  (There have been too many stories about babies being born on the way to the hospital lately.)  Our bags were packed and already in the car, including Emma's overnight bag for Papa and Grandma's house.  So we loaded everybody up and off we went to drop off Emma and head to the hospital.  By the time we got to the hospital, my contractions were about 5 minutes apart and intense.  I was at 5 cm.  We were admitted at about 8:00 p.m. and let nature take its course (no Pitocin).  After enduring 2 hours of contractions, I asked for my epidural.  Ahhhh....  Andy and I both got some good sleep that night (minus the times the nurse and midwife had to check in) and woke up ready to meet our little girl.  At 9:51 a.m. Abigail came into her new world weighing 8 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.  She's perfect!
