From Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year's Eve and everything in between, here are the photos to close out 2021. I need to constantly remind myself of this, but be kind to yourself. We have all been through A LOT this past year and a half.
November 16th: I love it when Emma falls asleep wearing her Santa hat.
November 20th: making Great-Grandma Abbie's caramels
crafting with Aunt Tina
Tina and the girls threw some shoes into the Shoe Tree, just off of Main Street in Park City.
Then we wandered around Main Street, looking at the snow globes.
November 24th: Grandma Sherry came to visit for Thanksgiving! Emma made the pies for Thanksgiving dinner--apple and pumpkin
November 25th: Abigail helped with the mashed pototates.
At one point during our Thanksgiving get-together, I think there were about 4 Facetimes going on, with friends and family all around the country (and Mexico).
The turkey is done!
Aunt Robin showed Emma how to make gravy.
Dinner is served!
November 26th: After a few years, I finally got back to a Utah Utes football game. My mom watched the girls while Andy and I went to their last game of the season, against Colorado.
We celebrated the guinea pigs' "gotcha day" over Thanksgiving break. Emma made sure to decorate their cage.
November 27th: Unfortunately, we didn't get a permit to cut down our own Christmas tree in the Uintas. Fortunately, we have an amazing nursery/gardens where we can find our perfect tree. It is our tradition to get our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Notice how we didn't have any snow...yet.
The girls found our perfect tree!
My mom and Emma made a wreath for our front door.
The girls love to hang the ornaments on the tree.
Also over Thanksgiving break, Andy and I took Emma to a Utah Utes basketball game. It was super fun!
just a random photo of Ruth
November 28th: My mom and I took Abigail to the "Survival of the Slowest" exhibit at the Swaner Nature Preserve. Emma had been there but Abigail had not.
December 4th: Each year, Park City does a Holiday Lights Parade on Main Street. It's only about 8-10 cars, but we made the best of it and had dinner on Main Street, as well.
December 5th: Our first family day on the slopes! (Notice the lack of snow in the background.). There wasn't much terrain open, but it was still fun to get back out there.
December 11th: Aunt Tina and Emma making holiday goodies
We live in a spectacular neighborhood, full of wildlife, nature, and lots of trails. One day we did a nice hike up and then let the kids sled down. They loved it!
December 19th: Zoo Lights at the Hogle Zoo
I have said it once, and I will probably say it again, these guineas put up with a lot from the girls. That includes wearing homemade hats.
Emma did a little dog-sitting over the winter break. It was so nice to have a dog back in the house.
December 22nd: Andy's sister and her family traveled from Boston to spend the holidays in Park City. One night, we made homemade pizzas.
After dinner, the girls did a fashion show with Neena's clothes.
December 23rd: We did some sledding in our backyard.
We went for a walk on the Moose Trail.
And then made snow angels
The dog we were dog sitting, Rialta, loved to sleep under Emma's desk. Emma even gave her some pillows to cuddle with.
December 24th: Instead of skiing in our Santa suits on Christmas Day, we decided to ski on Christmas Eve Day. That way, we wouldn't have to rush to get to the slopes on Christmas Day.
That night, we had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner and visit at Jim and Robin's house. The girls formed their own band.
December 25th: Christmas morning was so much fun with all of the cousins together!
We had scones for breakfast, of course.
December 26th: Whitney (Andy's sister) and I took the girls to see Sing 2.
December 29th: Before Whitney and her family headed to the airport, we tried to tire out the girls at Get Air. This just may be a tradition before they fly back to Boston.
December 30th: My mom got us Sequence for Christmas. We love games!
December 31st: We got about a foot of snow last night. It was a whole family affair to shovel and snow blow.
Work hard, play hard: That afternoon, we went snowshoeing and sledding in Summit Park.
In between Bowl games (college football), we went for another walk in the neighborhood.
Happy New Year's to all! We hope 2022 brings you much peace, happiness, and health. Remember, be kind to yourselves.
