Camping in February?

I know...crazy, huh?  With the warm weather we were having, and lack of snow, we decided to venture down to the desert for a couple of nights.  We timed it just right.  It was sunny and in the upper 60s while we were down there.  (The nights got a little chilly but thank goodness for a tent heater.)  Today, the high was 41.  Brrr...  When we got back to Park City, it seemed winter temperatures were back and there were bits of little white coming out of the sky.

We had a great time and the views were spectacular.  I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Sorry Ben, but Sarah will need a good bath when you get home.  Abby found great joy in dumping sand on her.

Dead Horse Point State Park was just a short drive from our campsite.  Why that name, you ask?  At the turn of the century, cowboys corralled wild mustang horses at the point.  I'm guessing they wanted to tame them and use them for work.  The cowboys used branches and brush to keep the horses at the point (where the narrowest point is 30 yards wide).  At one time, the horses were left barricaded at the point with no water.  All they could do was watch the Colorado River 2,000 feet below.  Many horses died from dehydration.  Hence the name.  The pictures just don't do it justice.

Remember Thelma and Louise?  In the movie, the very last scene supposedly took place at the Grand Canyon.  Not so.  It was actually filmed at Dead Horse Point State Park.  So, of course, last night we had to watch Thelma and Louise again.
