Sundance and Sledding

What a fun weekend!  It all started on Friday evening when Andy and I went to our first, of three, Sundance films for this year.  It was called The End of the Tour and was about a Rolling Stone reporter who went on tour with author David Foster Wallace (around 1996) in hopes of writing an article about him in Rolling Stone.  To make a long story short, he never ended up publishing the article because he was put on a different story.  David Foster Wallace ended his own life in 2008. It was a really good movie.

Joan Cusack is in the middle.

Jason Segel is the tall guy in the middle.  He played the role of David Foster Wallace.  Jesse Eisenberg played the role of the Rolling Stone reporter but he was not there because he was filming a movie in Europe.
After the film, the cast and crew go up on stage and answer a few audience members' questions.  The actors are usually only there for the world premiere showings.

On Saturday, we went to Main Street for our traditional "breakfast on Main Street during the first weekend of the Sundance craziness."  We took full advantage of our free city transit system.

Emma and her classmates take the city bus all around town for field trips and, every Wednesday for five weeks, ski lessons at Park City Mountain Resort.

Later that afternoon, we had some friends over for some sledding.  Andy has been working hard on the track and it is a blast!

After a couple hours of sledding, we indulged in a fondue feast.

It was "snow" much fun!!

Oh, wait, but the weekend is not over, yet.  This afternoon, Andy and I went to our second Sundance film.  Me and Earl and the Dying Girl was a tear-jerker.  It's about a boy, Greg, who is a senior in high school, is socially-awkward, and really only has one friend, Earl.  Greg's mom pretty much forces him to befriend Rachel, a 17 year-old who has been diagnosed with leukemia.  He realizes that he actually wants to be her friend.  I'll leave it at that, just in case it comes out on the "big screen."

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is based on a book.  The author is in the red and the director of the film is to his left.

Some of the cast and crew of the film

Not the best quality, but Molly Shannon is in the black dress, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) is to her left, and then on his left is Connie Britton (Nashville).

These are the "porta-potties" that are outside of the Eccles Theatre.  Not too shabby, huh?
