August can be bittersweet. It signals the end of our summer break but, also, the start of a new school year. It's also the start of our busy fall season of sports and activities.
House projects are never-ending, especially in the summer. Andy and his dad put in some new steps for us.
August 9th: For our 18th anniversary, Andy and I went to Sundance, Utah for the day. We started the morning with a hike to Stewart Falls.
Then we headed to the Sundance Resort for lunch and the zip line tour.
Oh wait...lightning was close enough where we were put on a lightning hold, which ended in us getting evacuated from the top of the mountain in an ATV. Oh wait...the breaks went out on the ATV on the way down so then we had to wait for a truck to pick us up. So...we did not get to do the zip line but we did get a refund so we will be back!
We ended the day with a trip to the Owl Bar, where Butch Cassidy himself frequented.
August 12th: The girls had a GRiT (Girls Riding Together) event at Deer Valley. We had recently gotten rain which means...muddy trails.
August 14th: My sister continues to come out to Utah to hang out with the girls while Andy and I go back to work. Today they went to the UOP.
August 14th-16th: We stayed at the cabin this weekend.
August 17th: Today's adventures took the girls to a cool miniature golf place in Salt Lake.
August 19th: 1st day of school for Abigail--8th grade!
August 20th: 1st day of school for Emma--11th grade!
August 22nd: The 1st bike race of the year took place at Soldier Hollow. This was Abigail's first bike race!
August 28th: Friday afternoon fun at the Utah Olympic Park Museum.
August 29th: You never know what you are going to get with fall soccer. Today is was a 30-minute hold for a thunderstorm that rolled through, which made for a very wet field. It sure was a pretty view, though.
