September

We had an absolutely beautiful September!  The colors of the leaves were just breathtaking.  Our days were filled to the brim in September.

September 2nd: I went to a beautiful wedding in the Millcreek area down in Salt Lake City. (Andy was in Denver for a concert.)

September 4th:  The girls and I spent the day up at Brighton.

September 9th-11th: Emma had a bike race in Cedar City, Utah.  While Andy took Emma to the bike race, Abigail and I stayed back so she could go to soccer.

Before they drove back home, they did one last ride in Cedar City.

Meanwhile, back in Park City...

September 9th:  When you have a dinner date with Abigail and she chooses to go to Whole Foods...

September 10th:  We squeezed in one last swim before the pool closed.

September 11th:  breakfast at Five5eeds

September 15th:  Emma had her official photos taken for the bike team.  I can't wait to see the photos!

September 16th:  Emma has constant congestion/stuffy nose so we made an appointment with a ENT.  He recommended we get a CT scan and allergy testing.  This is the result of the allergy testing...

September 17th:  What a fun day!  It was the ladies frisbee golf tournament up in Brighton. Unfortunately, neither of us took any photos during the actual frisbee tournament.

September 18th:  Emma had a presentation for her Spanish Honors class and decided to make plantains to go along with her presentation.  They were delicious!

September 24th:  This was Emma's last bike race.  It was held at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah. We made a weekend out of it and camped at Wasatch State Park.

Ready or Not, Here we Go--Bring August to a Close

Even though school is in full swing, we seem to be busier than ever in August.  Emma continued to have biking Mondays and Thursdays (and sometimes Wednesdays).  Abigail had soccer Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Throw in our weekend activities and a bike race and we had ourselves a pretty full plate to close out August.

August 17th: This was the first day of school for students--Abigail (4th grade) and Emma (7th grade)

August 20th: Some friends and I did the Mudgirl with our kiddos (girls only).  It was an absolute blast (even with the 20-minute lightning hold).  My friend, Julie, was a rockstar and made our shirts--Mighty Mamas and Minis.

August 26th: This weekend was Emma's first bike race.  Even though it was relatively close (Eagle Mountain--about 50 minutes away) we decided to get a hotel room the night before so we didn't have to get up quite as early.  Her staging time was 8:29 a.m. and she had to be there by 7:25 a.m. to check-in and do a pre-ride warm-up with the rest of the girls in her category.

August 27th:  Race day at Eagle Mountain! This is where all of the excitement began--in the parking lot!

The Pit Zone is where all of the teams set up their tents--kind of like their base camps.

Here she is at the staging area, where they make sure the girls are in the right order as they line up 3 across.

And...she's off!

It is a pretty fast race so, after she took off, we made our way to the finish line so we wouldn't miss her coming in.  This was definitely one of those "proud parents" moments--watching her coming in to the finish line, passing 5 riders in those last 5-10 seconds before crossing the finish line.

smile on her face = success!

What a great group of girls! (Katharine, Emma, Ella, Hazel)

We could not have been more proud of her!  Along with the smile on her face, she also went from 71st up to 27th for this race.

August 31st: Abigail absolutely loves soccer!  She has even been trying the goalie position and really enjoyed it.
