Summer Happenings: June

And just like that it is August!  What?!  School starts soon so, before we get into the fast lane, I figured I needed to update this little blog of ours.  June was an extremely hot month in Park City.  Temperatures were in the 90's and I think it rained 1 day the entire month.

Andy's mom bought a condo in Park City.  It is a little closer to our house so it's fun to be able to bike to over to just say "hi."

Patches and Ruth are doing great!

The girls did a basketball camp for a week in June. They both loved it!

It was so great to have my mom come and visit for a week in June.  We hadn't seen her in over a year.

We love having the moose come and visit!

With the hot temperatures, going to the reservoirs is a must. For this trip, we went to the Jordanelle.

This was my mom's first time kayaking and paddle boarding!

And...That's a Wrap!

As I write this, we are on day #3 of summer vacation.  We made it.  We made it through an entire school year of in-person learning during a global pandemic.  Now it's time to rest, relax, and reenergize.

Here is what we have been up to since our Spring Break biking trip:

April 14th: Andy had hand surgery for a condition call Dupuytren's.  It is a condition when one (or more) fingers become permanently bent in a fixed position.

Andy had to take some time off from work so we had a little girl time on the way to school.  This usually includes a stop at Silver King coffee shop for some hot chocolate.

When Andy no longer needed his foam block (or cheese block, as Abby called it), Abby decided she needed it for sleeping.

The weather turned on us, which is pretty typical for spring around here.

May 1st: We went to the home opener for the Real Salt Lake MLS!  It was part of Abigail's birthday present and it was amazing.  We were treated to a buffet lunch, awesome seats, and all-you-can-eat treats at one of the food shops in the stadium.  It was a "yes" day for the girls.

Prime rib is not a typical meal for us so this was a real treat!

May 8th:  Abigail's birthday is May 9th so she invited a few friends to City Park and then to Kim's condo to swim.

May 9th: Happy 8th Birthday, Abigail!

May 22nd: After having to cancel last year's event, Running with Ed. was a go this year!  It was so great to be back running to support our schools.  This year, our school's theme was "Running Through the Decades" so each team was a different decade.  Our team was the 90's.

Each school had a big banner with the names of all staff who work at that school.

The Park City Education Foundation also lined Main Street with banners with the names of every single Park City School District employee.  Pretty amazing.

Later that evening, we also added a couple of pairs of shoes to the shoe tree.

May 26th:  Happy birthday, Andy!  We celebrated by going out for dinner at Sushi Blue with Kim and a very good family friend, Karen.

A few randoms:
The guineas get lots of reading time.

I have to pick my battles...neon tie-dye and leopard print it is!

You want to wear your cowgirl boots on a walk?  Sure thing!

The trampoline is the best! Even Aunt Tina took a few jumps when she was here for a visit in early May.

May 28th: We had field day at our school!  The kids loved being able to do this super fun activity again.

May 28th-May 31st: Some friends of ours bought some property near Vernal, Utah so we ventured there for the long Memorial Day weekend.  We had not all been camping together in about a year!

Fantasy Canyon

June 2nd: Our 2nd graders had a "beach day."

June 2nd:  Sniff. Sniff. Emma's 5th grade promotion was held today.

This also included a silly string clap out.

I can't believe it.  Where did the time go?

June 5th: We opened the cabin!  What a beautiful day to bring the cabin alive again.  It is all ready for sitting on the deck, making memories, telling stories, and lots and lots of laughter.
