Post Winter Break Adventures

And the adventures just keep on a coming!  Ski lessons have started.  And the snow...oh, the snow.  After getting about 20 inches a few days ago, it is snowing again.  We are projected to get another 12-18 inches!  The skiing has been amazing but getting our road plowed, on the other hand, not so amazing.  The county is short on plow drivers which means they only plow the main roads right away and the other roads get plowed later.  Last Friday, we were late for school because our road hadn't been plowed when we needed to leave for work.  With a layer of ice under a layer of hard pack snow under a layer of soft snow, it was a challenge.  Andy and a neighbor ended up snow blowing a path so we could get out.

After I finally got the car up the hill, Andy and the girls had to do a quick hike up to the car.

With all of this snow, it has been fun to get out to enjoy it!

Emma and I did a mother/daughter snowshoe on one of our many trails in the neighborhood.

Night hikes are so much fun, especially on New Year's Eve!

Ski lessons started for both of the girls and they are loving it!  This is the first time Abigail has skied all day but it doesn't seem to bother her.  They are both very tired when we pick them up.

With the girls in ski lessons all day, that means mom and dad can get out together and enjoy the snow!

We have been doing a lot of cross country skiing this winter.  I am considering it winter training for my running.

My friend, Amy, and I went out one (very cold) morning and it was absolutely gorgeous!

One Sunday, Andy and I cross country skied in the morning, ate lunch in the parking lot, and then downhill skied in the afternoon.  Perfect day!

We have also been busy working on science fair projects and Andy and I have been really busy at work.  As long as you can find some balance, it's all good.  Work hard, play hard.

Winter Break 2018

We had an absolutely amazingly fun winter break!  My mom, her husband, and my sister were in town for the holidays so we made sure to show them true Tullis adventures.  I joked that we like our guests to leave more exhausted than they came.  Come along on our adventures!

This is what the airport looked like on Friday, December 21st.  Yikes!

December 22nd:  This morning we went on a dog sledding tour at Luna Lobos.  Unfortunately, due to not enough snow, instead of being pulled in dog sleds we were "pulled" in a Ranger.  It was still such a fun experience.

That evening, we went to Zoo Lights.  It's always fun to see the zoo all lit up!

December 23rd:  We went on a hike to see some remnants of the mining days in Park City.  After that, I took my mom and her husband, Pete, to the Park City Museum to learn more history of Park City.

That night, Andy, the girls, and I went to the annual Tullis Christmas party down in Salt Lake.  Our visitors had a relaxing evening at home, recovering from the hike (and the elevation).

Usually, each year at the Tullis Christmas party we do a community service project.  This year, we made bags for hygiene supplies for girls in Africa.

December 24th:  Christmas Eve Day - We had a pretty lazy morning and early afternoon and then headed to Andy's aunt and uncle's for a Christmas Eve get-together.

Of course, we had to get ready for Santa.

December 25th:  Merry Christmas!  After a morning of Abbie Fizzes, scones, and gift-giving, we headed to the resort for some skiing in our Santa suits.  My mom, Pete, and Tina enjoyed a few hours of reading and people watching.

December 26th:  We took the fam up to the Uintas and did some, hiking, cross county skiing, and snowshoeing.

There always has to be a silly picture.

We had such a great visit and were so excited to be able to celebrate Christmas together.  Here are a few random shots from our time together:

playing dolls with Aunt Tina

We love Dolly's bookstore!
