Halloween Happenings

Another Halloween has come and gone.  It was so fun to watch Abigail really get into the trick or treating this year.  She tries so hard to keep up with her sister.

The weather has also been pretty decent so we are trying to get out on a family hike every Sunday morning.  With Andy at class twice a week and then meeting with his group every once in a while, it's a luxury to all be together as a family.  We take full advantage of our family time.

The weekend before Halloween, we did a 1-mile run (Emma ran the entire way but it was mostly a walk with Abigail).  Yep, we ran/walked in our costumes.

Abigail did great!

Then it was off to the doctor's office for more family fun--flu shots!

We had some friends over for a little pumpkin carving.

It's so much fun to have Emma at our school and be able to watch her participate in our school activities, like our annual Halloween parade.

I also got to sneak away from my recess duty for a bit to watch Emma during her Halloween centers/activities.

Emma and I went to a Halloween party at one of my students' houses.  They transformed their garage into a haunted house and it was amazing!

On Halloween, we ventured down to Main Street and did some trick or treating from stores to restaurants, up and down Main Street.

Then we were off to Andy's dad's for more trick or treating.  (It's a good thing we had a candy buy back at our school today.  Kids received $1 for every pound of candy they brought it.  The candy is then sent to troops overseas.)

Hiking time! (Baby Dennis had to go with on one of our hikes, too.)

I was going through all of our winter gear, seeing what fit and what didn't.  I also had to get things ready to take into Abigail's school.  Needless to say, these two cuties are beyond excited for ski season.

And finally, I'll leave you with Emma's most recent drawing...looking good!

A Fun-Filled Football Weekend

Last week, we had fall break on Thursday and Friday.  Andy and I took advantage of the time and ventured off (while the girls stayed home with Nana) to Wisconsin for a football weekend with family and friends.   We had an absolute blast!

We started our vacation with a drink at the SLC airport.

Do you see that?  No crayons, kids toys, or kids meals.  Ahhh....dinner in Madison, WI at the Texas Roadhouse

The next day, we were off to tour the New Glarus Brewing Company in New Glarus, WI.

Next stop:  a cheese and chocolate haus

Later that afternoon, we met up with my mom, Pete, and my sister.

Saturday was the Badger homecoming game.

The UW-Madison men's basketball team was signing autographs.

This is my grandma's favorite player, Nigel.

After the game, we walked to State Street and helped out the economy.

The next morning, we were on the road and off to Green Bay for the Packers/Chargers game.

Andy was very excited because the Chargers players were in those buses--with police escorts and all.

We made it!

Ben met us in WI for the game.

The stadium was beautiful!

We had 2 sets of tickets (not together) and shared them with Ben.  This was the view from our seats during the first half.

We also had a clear view of the instant replay booth.

We switched seats at halftime and this was our view for the 2nd half.

The Packers ended up winning (yay!) but it came down to the final seconds of the game.

I will end this post with a couple of Emma's writing samples from school.
