October 2023

 It's October!

October 2nd:  We had our first little dusting of snow today.  It didn't last long, but it was enough to get everybody into high gear for winter preparations.

October 6th:  My sister took the girls to look at the scarecrows behind the McPolin barn.  Emma and her friend, Ella, made one for the bike team.

Then they ventured to the Park City Nursery for the haunted forest and pumpkins.

October 7th:  After Emma and I watched the Regionals bike race at Eagle Mountain, we met my sister and Abby at a pumpkin festival at Thanksgiving Point.

Emma even did a little volunteer work.

This was our favorite--apple shooting.

October 8th:  Andy and I got out on a beautiful bike ride in Summit Park.

October 9th:  Abby had her last fall soccer game today.

October 15th:  We made a family trip to the Park City Nursery to pick out the perfect pumpkins for our pumpkin carving party.

October 18th-October 22nd:  This year for fall break, we headed down to the Hanksville area to do some exploring and camping.

The slot canyons were amazing!

October 27th:  Abby had a small performance at school.  The students performed poems they wrote after reading Esperanza Rising.

That night, we had some friends over to do some pumpkin carving!

Emma, of course, made a pumpkin rice krispie treat.

October 28th:  I took the girls to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie.  It was much cheaper than buying tickets to one of her concerts!

October 31st:  Happy Halloween!  This year, Andy and the front office staff went with the Super Mario Bros. theme.  The Sp. Ed. team dressed up as characters from the series of books like If You Give a Pig a Party.

Abby and a friend went trick-or-treating on Main Street after school.  Later that evening, the girls went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.  They made a haul!
