4th of July Festivities and Beyond...

About 2 years ago, Andy and I made the decision to skip all Park City 4th of July festivities and spend that time at the cabin in Brighton.  Park City just gets so ridiculously crowded on the 4th.  We know there will be a time when one of the girls is involved with the festivities in some way.  When that time comes, we will embrace it but, for now, we revel in the calm and tranquil environment in Brighton.

We did a big hike to 3 lakes:  Mary, Martha, and Katharine.

Abigail hiked about a mile.

This scenery never gets old.

It's not the 4th at the cabin without Robin's tray of Fireball shots.

Robin painted the girls' toe nails and gave them a nice lesson about Chanel.

It wouldn't be a trip to the cabin without playing a little frisbee.

We participated in the Brighton parade, again, this year.

We brought sidewalk chalk for the kids to play with but the adults were having the most fun with it.

Grandma Sherry always keeps the girls festive for the 4th!

In other Tullis adventures...

We have been taking advantage of all of the outdoor concert opportunities in Park City, whether it be at Canyons

or Deer Valley.

Ahhh...sushi.  The girls are getting good with chopsticks!

I had to take a picture of the back of my car.  Summertime takes us all over the place!

The girls spend a lot of time outside but there are those moments when they want some screen time.  We wanted to put some limitations on that.

We love a good family hike!

Home Remodeling Update #1

We are, slowly, doing some remodeling at our house.  For those who remember a photo of our basement bathroom after the demo, nothing has changed.  It's still down to the  2x4s and cement floor. We have also done some demo in the T.V. and playroom downstairs.

Before:

In Progress:

Emma was a big helper by taking off all of the outlet covers.

Without getting too detailed about this photo, let's just say we found some mice graveyards and I was the lucky one to clean them out.

After:

We opened this space up about 8 inches, making it feel a little less cramped.

Good-bye old stuff!

In preparation for our "new" basement, Andy and I made 9 loads of sheetrock to the basement.  Phew!

I have also been doing some painting, trying to lighten things up a bit.  We are going from the tan on the left to the natural gray on the right.

I realize this may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but we have grass!!

Summer Camps

Emma had soccer camp this week.  There was also a sports/yoga/arts camp at the same park for Abby.  Yahoo!! Both kids at a camp for a couple of hours = running time for Mom and biking time for Dad.  That, along with home remodeling, was a bulk of our week.

Emma did great playing goalie one day!

Abby's camp was about a 10 minute walk up the path from Emma's soccer camp.  She was determined to carry her things all by herself.

According to the coaches, she seemed to prefer basketball over soccer.

Today, while the girls were at camp, Andy and I got out on a bike ride together.
