Kick-Off to Summer 2011

This past Friday, Andy and I finished our 3rd year of teaching in Park City. It's been a busy 3 years but it has all been worth it! To kick-off our summer vacation we went camping down in southern Utah, in the desert. Oh boy, was it ever hot! We spent 2 nights around the San Rafael Swell/Goblin Valley. Emma loved it!

What a helper!

Ahhhh...just chillin'

Emma loved playing in the sand.

going to check out some old mining buildings

We had a visitor!

Our home for 2 nights. We were trying to keep the sun
out of Emma's eyes, since she kept throwing her
hat on the ground.

Um, that shirt is supposed to be white.

Cooper got a little warm.

Emma spent about an hour putting pistachio shells in the bowl,
dumping them out, putting them back into the bowl, etc....

These shoes started out being pink.

Goblin Valley

Cooper's favorite hobby was lizard hunting. He didn't
have much luck.

Playing in the Sand Box

We are so lucky that Uncle Ben's new house has a sandbox (and a tree house--but that's for a little later down the road)! While Ben and crew unloaded the UHaul, Emma and I played in the sandbox.

Sunday Brunch

We went to brunch at our friend's house today. She has horses on her property so Emma loved looking at them. What a beautiful day!

Like...Totally!

Yesterday was the 2nd annual Running with Ed (41-mile relay race). All money raised goes towards teacher grants funded by the Park City Education Foundation. There are teams of 5 (unless you are one of the 5 crazy people who ran the entire thing alone). Each team member runs about 8 miles. A majority of the teams have a theme. Our theme was 80's marathon runners. It was a beautiful day for the race.

Here we are...

Emma would be so proud.

One of our school's teams was the Runaway Brides. Our principal was the groom and the 4 ladies ran in wedding dresses!

On one of my legs the last mile was all a steep uphill. Oh boy, was that a grueling run. I think I can...I think I can...

Messy

Just another evening at the dinner table...

An Outdoorsy Girl

It really doesn't matter what the weather is like...Emma loves being outdoors.

The Snow is Finally Melting!

Thank goodness! The tulips are getting ready to pop. We can actually walk in our backyard (without snow shoes). We have our second set of stairs back. Yay!

Emma LOVES the outdoors. I just know she will walk into the house holding a garter snake one day.

Emma's First Chore

No, no, no...we do not make Emma feed the dog every day. She insists on it! It is so cute because she will carry the full bowl over to his mat and then start clapping for herself. Awwww....

Mother's Day 2011

We went out for brunch with Jim, Robin, Claire, Anne, Whitney, Jane, Rick, and Abbie for Mother's Day. Mmmm...The Wild Grape has fantastic food!!

Spring Has Not Sprung...Yet

I have to keep telling myself that we live in the mountains--at 7100 feet. We live in the mountains. We live in the mountains. Last night, we got another 10 inches of snow. It seems winter wants to stay with us a bit longer this year. If we want to see green grass and tulips we have to go down to Salt Lake.

Emma's 2nd Easter

We celebrated Easter at great-grandma Abbie's house this year.

Just Like Mama!

For those of you that know me really well, you know that I used to LOVE ketchup on EVERYTHING--potato chips, eggs, rice, french fries, you name it. I have tamed down my ways a bit, but we recently found out we have another ketchup lover in the family. Emma loved to dip her sweet potato fries into the ketchup.

Ski Day!

Andy and I got out for one last ski day together. Andy decided to go for the 80's look...

13 Months Old!

Okay, I know this photo is very late but I do have a good reason. These past couple of weeks have been anything but calm and relaxing. A couple of Sundays ago, we were at the ER at midnight. Emma had woken up at 11:30 p.m. coughing and it seemed to us that she was having trouble breathing. Not quite sure what else to do, we got into the car and drove to the ER. It turned out to be croup. It's highly contagious so she was home for a couple of days, which meant Andy and I each took a day off from work. On the Monday I was home from work with Emma, our basement had a flood. So here I am, trying to take care of Emma and vacuum up water at the same time. Not fun. Thank goodness Andy's dad lives in Salt Lake. Not knowing what else to do, and the water very close to getting into the carpet in the living room, I called Andy's dad, Tom. He came up and vacuumed up all of the water and got everything under control. Thank you, Tom!! So...these past couple of weeks we've been trying to figure out how to fix the problem and make it right. We've had a couple of companies come out to give us suggestions and estimates. These companies are VERY busy right now because flooding is a huge problem around here right now. We have gotten so much snow and the water levels are so high that many people are dealing with this problem. The good news: It can get fixed. Yay! The bad news: We will probably have to put our trip to Alaska on hold for another year. Boo!

So anyways, here are our beautiful girl's 13-months photos:
