This past Thursday was the first football game for the University of Utah (Utes). Emma just had to represent.

1st Day of School/Daycare

This past Monday was Emma's first day of daycare (but I like to call it school). We started the process last December but were relieved to get her into the district daycare. (They only accept 4 infants.) It is right next door to our school so, if there is an emergency, we are both right there. It's also just fun to know she is just a hop, skip and a jump away. On Monday, she was a bit fussy. It got a little better on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday were her best days--no tears, playing with the other 3 infants and smiling at all of the teachers.

It kind of looks like she is forcing a smile here. (Just a note--the sweater she is wearing is the same sweater Andy wore as a baby. Grandma Kim got it all cleaned up and added a little colored yarn.)

We Go Camping Again!

Our goal was to get Emma out camping at least once this summer. Well, we can add another camping trip to the list. We camped at Strawberry Reservoir on Friday night. She was so good--a natural. Since she fell asleep so early last time, this was her first time around a camp fire.

Skunk 1, Cooper 0

Well, we can add "skunked" to Cooper's list of mishaps. We let him out this morning around 6:00 a.m. Andy smelled skunk when he let him in but didn't think much of it--just thought a skunk had sprayed somewhere. He sure did spray somewhere...at Cooper. The smell was so nauseating and putrid. We had already let Cooper in the house so the damage had been done. The house STUNK. Cooper has already had 2 baths today. (Did you know there is such a thing as de-skunking shampoo?) Not sure if he'll be allowed in the house tonight yet. He's been outside all day. Luckily, it's a nice day. Needless to say, the windows are wide open, we're burning candles, baking cinnamon in the oven (saw that trick on the internet), and cooking bacon. It definitely smells better in the house but everywhere I go I still smell skunk. Ugh.

I'm not exactly sure what to call these poses, but they sure were cute. It's Emma's new thing lately...holding on to her toes and doing her stretches.

Jack Johnson and G Love...Live!

What a great concert! For our big anniversary splurge, we went to the Jack Johnson concert last Friday night. Amazing music! Gotta love it! G Love also played. He is amazing to watch, as well. He has a tremendous amount of energy he puts into his music. To top off the evening, G Love and Jack Johnson played/sang together at the end.

We could not have asked for better weather. Plus, the scenery wasn't so bad either.

Emma's First Camping Trip

Maybe it's too early to tell, but I'm thinking Emma is going to love camping through the years. She did GREAT on her first camping trip. We didn't go too far from home--only about 20 minutes. We stayed at a campground at Rockport Reservoir.

5 Months Old

Today is Emma's 5-month birthday so you know what that means...photo shoot!!!

Our 2nd Anniversary

Yesterday, August 9th, was our 2nd wedding anniversary. With Emma at grandpa and grandma's, Andy and I had a delicious, scrumptious dinner at Tuscany. I don't think I've had better spaghetti and meatballs. (Sorry, Gram...your spaghetti and meatballs are delicious as well.)

Hiking in Brighton

While we were up at the cabin this past weekend, Andy and I had an opportunity to get out on a beautiful hike. The 4-mile hike took us up to Lake Mary, Lake Martha and Lake Katherine.



This is usually where Lake Mary is located but, as you can see, it's a little dry at the moment. Some "water guys" were up at the lake testing the gates of the dam and they couldn't get the gates shut so, as a result, the lake has been emptied until the snow pack gets it back to normal. Bummer.

A Picnic in the Mountains

This past Sunday we drove further up into the mountains and had a fabulous picnic by the river. It was beautiful! We even managed to get a few family shots while we were there.


Cooper found his own little swimming hole. This is probably why he has been emitting some terrible, odorous gases recently. Phew!
